Enjoying a Sunny Day with Scots Corner Nursery

We recently enjoyed a fantastic day with our friends from Scots Corner Nursery, bringing together residents and children for a joyful afternoon in the sunshine.

The bright weather provided the perfect setting for outdoor games and activities, with residents and children spending time together laughing, chatting and enjoying each other’s company. These special visits always bring a wonderful energy to Glencorse, and it was lovely to see so many smiles shared across the garden.

The Benefits of Intergenerational Activities and Community Connections

Intergenerational activities play an important role in life at Glencorse Care Home. They create natural moments of connection, where residents and children can enjoy simple activities together, from garden games to friendly conversation.

For residents, these visits offer companionship and stimulation. Many residents look forward to seeing the children every time, and the friendships that grow through these regular sessions continue to bring so much joy to everyone involved. Our residents living with dementia particularly enjoy telling the children stories of their lives and reminiscing about their own childhoods.

These visits also support children in a meaningful way. Spending time with older people helps children build confidence and understanding. It gives them the chance to learn from different generations, while enjoying fun and familiar activities in a warm setting.

Intergenerational activities also help strengthen community connections, bring people together who may not otherwise meet, creating shared experiences that benefit all ages. At Glencorse, we value these community links deeply, and our regular sessions with our local nursery school help residents feel connected to life beyond the home.

Strong community ties bring a real sense of belonging and purpose. Whether residents are sharing stories, encouraging children during a game or simply enjoying time together outdoors, these moments help make Glencorse a lively and welcoming place to live.
